Taught by a professional potter with 40 years of experience, this seven week class is a tremendous opportunity for those looking to further refine their handbuilding practice.
Class Details
This intermediate class will focus on making a refined functional kitchen set from slabs of clay and developing your technical clay skills.
You will make a mixing or serving bowl and a jar/pitcher set on a tray. These items will give you the chance to employ several different forming methods - push plate and hand forming slabs using a variety of molds.
There is a focus on handbuilding skills such as:
- forming the pot
- adding a gallery & lid
- making and attaching a spout
- making and attaching a handle
- several foot treatments
We will also look at a few different surface decoration techniques.
This class is suitable for people who have taken our Pottery 102: Handbuilding course, or those with prior experience of complex handbuilding projects.
